In an apparatus for the preparation of brine for the regeneration of an ion exchanger, in particular for dishwashers and washing machines, the replenishment of salts is facilitated and salt is saved by the liquid level in the salt storage space (10) being lowered before the replenishment in such a way that no liquid overflows. For this purpose, an intermediate chamber (11) is provided which receives the brine volume to be stored in the interim. An air chamber (12), which is connected to a feed line (3) and the salt storage space (10) via openings (21 and 22), accepts in turn the water contents of the intermediate chamber (11). When the ion exchanger (2) is operated, the air chamber (12) is drained by introducing air bubbles. When the cover (14) is opened for replenishing salt, the openings (21 and 22) are opened together. <IMAGE> |
