A compound of the formula : <CHEM> (wherein R is hydrogen, hydroxy, methoxy, acetoxy, acetoxymethyl or trifluoromethyl; R<1>, R<2>, R<3> and R<4> each is hydrogen, hydroxy, optionally substituted C1-C5 alkoxy, acetoxy, propynyloxy, allyloxy or benzyloxy; or R<2> and R<3> taken together form methylenedioxy; R<5> is hydrogen, hydroxymethyl, C2-C4 alkoxycarbonyl, C2-C5 acyloxymethyl or phthalidyl; and n is 0 or 1 except for the case in which R is methoxy and R<1>, R<2>, R<3>, R<4> and R<5> each is hydrogen) or its pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt, being useful as anti-ulcer agents is provided through several routes. |
