An apparatus for the heat and surface treatment of metal parts is designed as a unitary furnace installation in the form of a through-type installation, in which two reaction zones containing different atmospheres from one another are arranged one behind the other. The furnace installation has a common conveying device for both reaction zones. An atmosphere separation device is installed between the two reaction zones. The main advantage of this apparatus consists in that the metal parts to be treated can be handled in a particularly simple manner with it and the apparatus exhibits a particularly low energy consumption. <IMAGE>
