An immunoassay for the determination of a first component comprises causing a second component capable of forming an antigen-antibody complex with the first component to form such a complex, one of the first and second components being linked directly or indirectly to a bead, and the other of the first and second components being linked directly or indirectly to a marker which is quantitatively determinable by optical measurements, and quantitatively determining the amount of marker; the bead is vibrated during optical measurement.
