PURPOSE:To perform surely titled prevention of clogging by closing a valve provided in proximity to the blow port of a plug for blowing gas after refining of a molten iron thereby confining the gas in the vent hole of the plug and the gas well provided to the plug. CONSTITUTION:Not only the lower part but also peripheral surface 15 of refractories 4 of a plug 3 for blowing gas consisting of the porous refractories are covered and sealed by an iron plate 16, etc. Gas is supplied through a pipe 7 to the plug 3 and is blown through the plug 3 into a molten iron 10 by which the molten iron is stirred and refined. The valve 18 is closed, on ending of refining, to confine the gas in the vent hole and gas well 6 in the plug 3 thereby prohibiting intrusion of the molten metal into the vent hole of the plug. Since the gas does not flow in the plug 3, the gas in the vent hole is expanded by the heat of the molten iron 10 transmitted through the nozzle receiving brick 8 around the plug 3 and therefore the intrusion of the molten iron 10 is thoroughly prohibited. |
