<p>Open felt employed in the wet end of a papermaking machine, incorporating a woven canvas (1) comprising a number of layers (2, 3, 4, 5) of threads (6, 7) extending in the direction of travel of the felt and woven with threads (8) extending in a direction transverse to the direction of travel. The last threads (6, 7) extending in the direction of travel of the felt ending in loops (9, 11) at each end (10), the loops (9, 11) of the two ends (10) being joined together, characterised in that the canvas (1) consists of n pairs of layers with n > 1, each pair of layers (2, 3, 4, 5) ending at each end (10) in loops (9, 11) situated above or below those of the pair of layers (2, 3, 4, 5) situated above respectively. The loops (9, 11) of the ends (10) being interpenetrating to define n separate superposed channels (13, 15) in which reeds (14, 16) are arranged. The felt according to the invention makes it possible to avoid marking of the paper sheet and machine vibrations; in addition, it has a good tensile strength. <IMAGE></p> |
