PURPOSE:To prepare an oil seal having the superior sealing faculty by assembling a sealing ring and a supporting member and closing the upper and lower molds of a press and forming a screw groove onto the inner periphery of a sealing lip simultaneously with the curving process for the sealing ring. CONSTITUTION:The side surface on the atmosphere side of an outer ring 21 which constitutes an oil seal is fitted onto a lower mold 6, and an inner ring 22 is superposed, placing the outside diameter side of a sealing ring 1. Then, an upper mold 5 is lowered, and the molds are closed, and a sealing lip 1a is prepared by the wave-shaped working parts 51a and 61a, and at the same time, a screw groove is formed. Therefore, application of pulling action and compression action onto the screw groove is prevented, after the screw groove is molded, and thus, the screw groove having a desired depth and shape can be prepared. |
