PURPOSE:To enable quantitative determination of a deuterated org. compd. with a simple device with high sensitivity and accuracy by evaporating a sample contg. said compd. into gaseous hydrogen for carrying in common use for reaction, passing the gas formed by an exchange reaction with a catalyst for isotopic exchange reaction through an adsorbent and detecting the separated HD. CONSTITUTION:Gaseous H2 is supplied from a source 1 for supplying high-purity gaseous H2 through a refining device 3 to a sample evaporating chamber 5 and is mixed with the sample contg. a deuterated (D) org. compd. which is to be used as a tracer, etc. for medical goods, etc. and is fed through a feed port 5' into the chamber 5. The mixture composed of the evaporated sample and the gaseous H2 is passed through an HD generating tube 6 in which the catalyst for isotopic exchange reaction of a low temp. type formed by depositing a noble metel such as Pt, Pd or the like in a hydrophobic carrier or of a high temp. type such as nickel, chromia or the like is packed. The sample is then passed through a sepn. colmn 7 in which an adsorbent is packed to have O2, N2, org. material, ect. adsorbed thereon. The separated HD is detected with a detector 8. The quantitative determination with high sensitivity and accuracy is thus made possible. |
