PURPOSE:To make it possible to set easily an aimed rotational speed even in a low rotational speed range, by determining the aimed rotational speed based on the actual in-pipe negative pressure of an intake piping and the actual rotational speed from a predetermined relationship for obtaining a horsepower required for the engine at a minimum specific fuel consumption. CONSTITUTION:Rotational speed detecting means 2 for detecting the rotational speed of an engine 1 and velocity ratio adjusting means 5 for adjusting the velocity ratio of a continuously variable transmission 6 mounted on a vehicle for causing the rotational speed of the engine 1 to be in conformity with the aimed rotational speed are provided. Intake pipe negative pressure detecting means 3 detects the in-pipe negative pressure of an intake piping provided to the engine 1. From the relationship predetermined for attaining the output required for the engine 1 at the minimum specific fuel consumption, aimed rotational speed determining means 4 provides the aimed rotational speed based on the actual in- pipe negative pressure and the actual rotational speed of the engine 1. Accordingly, even in a low rotational speed range of the engine 1, an aimed rotational speed can be set easily. |
