PURPOSE:To operate an optimum safe inter-car distance by correcting a safe inter-car distance operated and determined from a vehicle speed, in accordance with a running environmental condition. CONSTITUTION:A microcomputer 60 calculates a car speed by a pulse train of a frequency being proportional to a car speed by a speed sensor 10 and a waveform shaping circuit 20, and also operate and determines a safe inter-car distance of a function relation to the car speed. This safe inter-car distance is corrected by using a wiper operating signal generated through a wiper switch 50, as a road state detecting signal. In the same way, this distance is also corrected in accordance with a brightness detecting signal of a day time running area or not by a clock circuit 40. In this way, an optimum safe inter-car distance operation can be executed, and a result of the operation is displayed on a CRT together with an existing inter-car distance through a laser device 30. |
