The air intake comprises an outer casing 1, a fixed central body 2, a compression ramp 3, which can move with respect to the body, and an internal trap 6 made between the ramp and the body in order to pick up the boundary layers of air on the ramp and discharge them through the body to the outside. The ramp is mounted so as to slide freely on a portion 213 of the central body. Means, such as a tube 5 and an axial duct 214 of the body, make it possible to apply, on the one hand, a static pressure po taken outside the casing 1 and, on the other hand, a pressure pp exerted by the bounding layers picked up by the trap 6, these two pressures opposing the mean air pressure p3 exerted by the external air on the ramp. The ramp 3 moves naturally, without any motorised means whatsoever, moving away from the central body 2 for one Mach number in flight, at a predetermined altitude of the aircraft, then by moving closer to the central body for another Mach number in flight at a predetermined altitude of the aircraft. <IMAGE>
