Foundry work. The method for manufacturing a metal blank for a glasswork half-mould, of the type involving a sand mould 10 delimiting a cavity 12 corresponding to the external shape which is to be imparted to the blank and comprising a half-mould 14 arranged partly in the cavity and corresponding to the shape of the negative impression which is to be presented by the blank, the said cavity being separated from a gating (ingate) system by means of at least one filter, is characterised in that it consists in: - placing the filter 26 at one of the ends of and transversely with respect to the axis of the cavity and between the latter and a gating (ingate) system 25; - pouring the metal into the gating (ingate) system and ensuring progression of the molten material into the cavity in a direction parallel to the axis of the cavity.
