The present invention relates to a system of subscriber switching in which all the terminals are linked to the switching device via a single line with which they are all connected in parallel. The main cabinet 1 is positioned at the front-end of the telephone line 9. A selection unit cabinet 16 is positioned on each dual-outlet plug 4, 5 linking each terminal 2, 3 to a junction box 6, 7 of the secondary line 8. The main cabinet 1 includes a ringing detector which informs a control logic unit in order to connect up the telephone line termination line 9 of the public network via the relay so as to receive the identification code transmitted by the calling subscriber and in consequence to modulate the secondary line 8, via the relay, and the secondary line supplier. The invention is of interest in particular to small and medium companies not wishing to have a telephone switchboard. <IMAGE>
