The present invention relates to a method and a system for production of an effluent contained in a geological formation comprising a central well and sub-horizontal drains. The system according to the invention is characterised in that the said main well 1 comprises a perforated zone 11 at the level of the said geological formation 13, an injection pipe connecting the said perforated zone 11 to a source 15 for injecting a displacing product, and in that the said sub-horizontal drains 6 run in the said formation 13 and have a length such that they end at a certain non-zero distance L from the axis of the said main well 1.
