The invention relates to an element providing lift, particularly a wing surface for an aeroplane wing, comprising : a leading edge 13; a trailing edge 14 located longitudinally behind the leading edge; a continuous lower surface 21 extending from the leading edge to the trailing edge and defining a lower camber; a first upper surface 22 extending rearwards from the said leading edge and having a first upper camber; a second upper surface 23 extending rearwards from the said first upper surface and defining a second upper camber; and means 20 arranged between the first 22 and second 23 upper surfaces for producing an aerodynamic discontinuity between these surfaces. <IMAGE>
