PURPOSE:To obtain a weighing device where tare is set automatically by reading a tare kind recorded in a code on an article to be weighed and deciding the tare weight of the article to be weighed from the previously stored tare weight. CONSTITUTION:Plural kinds of tare weight are stored in a memory 7 and the tare kind of the article to be weighed is recorded on a tray in a bar code. A bar code scanner which uses a charge coupled element reads the tare kind and an optical transmitting circuit 3 sends information to a photosensor 4. This information is sent to a trace data control circuit 6 through an optical detection-optical signal discrimination circuit 5. The circuit 6 decides the tare weight of the object article from the read tare kind and the tare weight stored in the memory 7. Then, a weight arithmetic part 2 subtract the tare weight from measured weigh to calculate the net weight. Further, the arithmetic part 12 multiplies the net weight by the unit price to compute the price.
