PURPOSE:To attain effective use of an area on an optical media and to shorten an access time by distributing a directory part to magnetic media. CONSTITUTION:An optical disk system has a small computer system interface (SCSI) controller 23, when the data are sent through an SCSI bus 20 and an SCSI controller 23, a floppy disk controller 26 controls a floppy disk drive 27 and writes the data into one side of a floppy disk. Next, the data are read, an optical disk controller 28 controls an optical disk drive 27 and the data are written into the optical disk. When writing is completed, further, the data written in the optical disk are read, the data written in the floppy disk are also read and both are compared. When dissidence exists at these, an alternative sector is specified to the optical disk and rewriting is executed.
