PURPOSE:To cause the junction part of recording medium to pass near an electrode without any hindrance and to prevent the bonding of a colored substance on the electrode even when the interval between the recording medium and the electrode is set smaller by separating the electrode from the recording medium at the prescribed timing. CONSTITUTION:Recording medium 1 is turned by the driving of one side roller 2, the voltage corresponding to an image signal is impressed to an electrode 38 and an image is formed on the recording medium 1. Then, an auxiliary sheet 1c of the recording medium 1 passes through the part of the electrode 38, this is detected by a microswitch 13 and an actuator 9 is operated. Consequently, a sleeve 35 is rotated in the B direction of an arrow, and the electrode 38 is shifted at the position largely away from the recording medium 1 as shown in double dotted chain lines. For that reason, the recording medium 1 and the electrode 38 are made close, the impressing voltage is not increased, the sticking property of a toner is improved, and even then, the passing of the auxiliary sheet 1c of the recording medium 1 is not hindered.
