PURPOSE:To facilitate dubbing tapes at a high speed while holding characteristics by setting dubbing at a second speed after arbitrarily setting an equalizer characteristic at a first speed and switching the equalizer characteristic to the higher band side in accordance with the speed ratio. CONSTITUTION:A reproducing device is driven at the first speed to obtain a reproduced output from a first tape 2 and is monitored on a monitor device connected to a reproduced output terminal 27, and an ideal or desired optional equalizer characteristic is set by the operation of operating parts 32-36 of a graphic equalizer 24, and positions of operating parts 32-36 are held at least till the end of dubbing. Next, a dubbing setting operation part 30 is operated, and then, contacts (b) of speed selecting switches 10 and 20 are turned on, and a reproducing device 1 and a recording device 9 are set to the second speed together, and a recording input switch 28 is turned on, and switches 37-46 of the equalizer 24 are turned off. As the result, the reproduced signal has the equalizer characteristic, where each frequency component is shifted double by the graphic equalizer 24, and is recorded on a second tape.
