PURPOSE:To monitor at all times the existence or the non-existence of abnormalities and ensure the safe running of a vehicle by providing a main electronic control device and an emergency electronic control device for the backup thereof, and equipping said devices with a means for diagnosing a failure interactively. CONSTITUTION:When a switch 30 has been turned 'ON' and voltage has been applied to a main electronic control device 101 and an emergency electronic control device 102, a diagnosis signal is generated from said devices 101 and 102, and first outputted toward the emergency electronic control device 102. Then, a diagnosis signal generated at the emergency electronic control device 102 is read into the main electronic control device 101 and it is judged whether the signal is normal or abnormal. And a diagnosis signal from the main electronic control device 101 is read into the emergency electronic control device 102, and it is judged whether the signal is normal or abnormal. According to the aforesaid constitution, it is possible to monitor whether both of said devices 101 and 102 are operating properly, thereby ensuring the safe operation of a vehicle. |
