PURPOSE:To improve the contrast of a display image and to thin a liquid crystal panel illuminating light source part by restricting the angle of irradiation light to a liquid crystal panel and projecting the irradiation light as approximately parallel beams. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical lens 5 is arranged on a plane parallel with a liquid crystal panel 2, an approximately linear light emitting source 1 is arranged on an approximately focus position on the back of the panel 2 on the optical axis and semitransmission mirrors 6-1-6-4 having respectively different transmissivity and held at fixed intervals respectively are arranged in front of the optical axis of the lens 5 with the inclination of a fixed angle from the optical axis of the lens 5 to constitute a face light source device 1. A transmission type liquid crystal panel 2 is arranged on the upper surface of the arranged part of the semitransmission mirrors 6-1-6-4 and a lenticular lens 3 is arranged on the upper surface of the panel 2. Consequently, the light beams from the irradiation light source can be projected as semi-parallel beams, the contrast characteristics of a display image can be improved and the thickness of the device can be thinned. |
