摘要 PURPOSE:To stably separate a transfer material while maintaining excellent transfer image density in wide range environment from low humidity to high humidity by constituting an electrostatic discharging electrode so that its tip height is not higher than the tip height of a moisture absorbing electrode. CONSTITUTION:The electrostatic discharging electrode 6 is made of a thin conductive plate arranged closely opposite an image carrier 1 and has a saw-tooth peak, and an electrostatic discharging bias having the opposite polarity from a power source 5 is applied by a power source 7. The moisture absorbing electrode 8 is made of thin and long beltlike paper and stuck on part of an insulating block 9 covering the electrode 6, and the electrode 8 is connected to the power source 7 common to the discharging electrode 6. Then, the height of the discharging electrode is set lower than the height of the moisture absorbing electrode 8 so as to obtain the range of an electrostatic discharging bias voltage wherein stable separation and the maintenance of transfer image density are both realized in environment from low humidity to high humidity. Consequently, the transfer material 3 is separated against its own rigidity and the electrostatic attractive force of a developing carrier 1 due to the electrostatic discharging of the discharging electrode 6 and then moves as shown by an arrow (c).
