PURPOSE:To simplify the circuit constitution of a white balance circuit and to facilitate a circuit design by setting the aperture ratio of respective filter parts of a color separating filter to a white object image so that the output level of a three-primary colors video signal obtained from an image pickup element can be constant. CONSTITUTION:Since the aperture area of a filter part R' is small, the irradiating light quantity to the image pickup element 1 of a red image obtained by color-separating, a white object image is little, and consequently, the main force level of a red video signal VR is reduced. To the contrary, since the aperture area of a filter part B' is large, the irradiating light quantity to the image pickup element 1 of the blue image obtained by color-separating the white object image is increased, and the output level of a blue video signal VB comes to be larger. Thus, since the output level of the red video signal VR, a green video signal VG and the blue video signal VB come to be approximately equal to the white object image, the circuit constitution of a white balance circuit in a process amplifier is simplified and the circuit design can be easily executed.
