PURPOSE:To reduce the peak shift or the like of a reproduced signal and to perform recording and reproducing at a good error rate by sticking a high-permeability magnetic thin film to the trailing edge side of a high-permeability magnetic member so that the end face facing a magnetic recording medium of this thin film is nearer to the magnetic recording medium than the end face facing the magnetic recording medium of the high-permeability magnetic member. CONSTITUTION:A pair of high-permeability magnetic thin films 12 are stuck to high- permeability magnetic members 13 forming a gap 11 of a ring-shaped magnetic head of a magnetic recording and reproducing head so that end faces facing the surface of the medium are placed a certain length apart from end faces 15 facing the surface of the medium of high-permeability magnetic members 13. With respect to positions of high-permeability magnetic thin films 12 and high-permeability magnetic members 13 relative to the medium moving direction, high-permeability magnetic thin films 12 are in the trailing edge side. The magnetic flux passing high-permeability magnetic members 13 is concentrated in high-permeability magnetic thin films to generate a sharp magnetic field of very high intensity. Thus, the peak shift of the reproduced signal is reduced extremely. |
