PURPOSE:To decrease the time of connecting by deciding electric connecting conditions to be selected base on communication operation after the reception of a restart signal and deciding the electric connection conditions to be selected based on a voltage of an input signal before the restart signal is received from a digital exchange. CONSTITUTION:A 2nd switch means is controlled by an automatic selection mode by a decision means 103 at a period (first half) after a data interface device 100 an external device 102 are connected, until a control means 105 in the data interface device 100 receives a restart signals from a digital exchange 101, and a manual switch 104 controls a 2nd switch means 107 after the reception of restart signal (latter half). Thus, there is no possibility by manual operation at the first half and there is no possibility of the mis- connection by the automatic selection mode at the latter half. Even if mis- connection is caused manually at the latter half, the user decides is mis- connection immediately because no communication is available and correct connection is selected.
