PURPOSE:To detect radiation exposure covering a wide area of exposure with a simple device by composing a detecting layer by the use of high polymer or rubber added with an additional conductive substance and detecting the exposure due to changing in negative resistance depending on the exposure. CONSTITUTION:A detecting element for the radiation is composed of the detecting layer 1 made from the high polymer or the rubber added with the additional conductive substance such as carbon black and metallic electrodes 2 for measuring the resistance. When the radiation exposure is detected, a measuring line is previously prepared which finds the relation between the resistance of a detecting element and the exposure. Then the detecting element is fixed with an adequate method at the place where the exposure is to be detected, the resistance after being radiated is measured by means of general measuring instruments such as digital multi-meter, etc. Using the relation between the obtained resistance and the measuring line previously prepared, the detection of exposure such as electron rays or gamma rays, etc., covering the wide area of the exposure is thereby enabled.
