PURPOSE:To obtain monofilament suitable for canvas, etc., having uniformly improved tensile strength and knot strength, by extruding a specific polyphenylene sulfide in a molten state, cooling under a specific condition, drawing in multiple stage and heat-treating in a relaxed state. CONSTITUTION:A polyphenylene sulfide which has <=200 melt flow rate and is substantially linear is extruded in a molten state, introduced into warm water at >=60 deg.C and cooled. Prepared undrawn monofilament thus obtained is firstly drawn at a draw ratio <88% total draw ratio, subjected to multi-stage drawing to make the total draw ratios >=4.0 times the undrawn yarn and then heat- treated in a relaxed state in an air bath at 200-280 deg.C. |
