PURPOSE:To enable the cutting of a fiber to short fibers in high efficiency, by using a drum having a number of cutting blades radially supported on the drum periphery, winding a fiber round the drum and pressing the fiber against the cutting edges with plural press rollers. CONSTITUTION:A press-cutting type drum cutter comprises a drum 11 having a number of radially supported cutting blades 12 and placed between a pair of rotors 3a and 3b and a plurality of free-running rollers 21, 21' arranged along the drum 11 and used for pressing fibers Y wound up on the outer periphery of the supported cutting blades 12. The fibers Y are pressed against the cutting blades 12 by this action.
