PURPOSE:To precisely control the amount of liquid by providing on-off valves respectively at every spray pipes and calculating minimum amount of circulated liquid based on a relation curve of both the conditions of gas in the inlet of an absorption tower and the amount of discharged SOX and controlling each set of pump and the on-off valves on the basis thereof. CONSTITUTION:The SO2 concn. in an inlet is obtained by a desitometer 11, the flow rate of gas in the inlet is obtained by a flowmeter 12, and thereby the amount of circulated liquid is calculated in an arithmetic controller 16. The signals sent from a densitometer 13 and a flow-meter 14 are multiplied in a multiplier 15 to calculate discharged discharged SOX, minimum amount of circulated liquid is obtained from the curve of the amount of circulated liquid and the discharged SOX on the basis of the signal sent from the multiplier 15, and control signals are sent to pump 3 and on-off valves 10 from the arithmetic controller 16. Thereby the amount of liquid at every spray pipe 4 and the number thereof can be closely controlled.
