PURPOSE:To output a grammatic rule selected as the best one by providing grammatical rules and grammatical categories which are made hierachic. CONSTITUTION:When input words (1) and (2) are inputted to a high-order category retrieval device 1, the high-order category retrieval device 1 retrieves grammatic categories of the same and higher order in a grammatical category layer 1-1. A combination retrieval device 2 which is informed of the retrieved grammatical categories refers to a grammatical rule 2-1 to find a grammatical rule consisting of grammatical rules of grammatical categories in combination. This found grammatical rule is reported to an optimum rule evaluating device 3 to select a grammatical rule generated by grammatical categories of the lowest order and the rule is outputted as an optimum grammatical rule. Consequently, even if there is not a grammatical rule having a grammatical category, the best grammatical rule is automatically selected among grammatical rules of high corresponding to a relative higher-order concept.
