PURPOSE:To constitute an oscillation circuit with low power consumption by adopting the constitution that am input potential of an oscillation inverter is set to a fixed potential when no oscillation is required. CONSTITUTION:With an internal circuit calling for an oscillation output, a control signal 20 reaches a potential (high level) at which a P-channel MOS transistor (TR) 21 is turned off and uses the oscillation inverter and a crystal resonator 30, a feedback resistor 31 and capacitors 32, 33 connected externally to apply oscillation. When no oscillation output is required, the control signal 20 goes to a low level to turn on the P-channel MOS TR 21 and to bring the input potential of the oscillation inverter 25 to a high level (+ power supply voltage level) forcibly thereby stopping the oscillation. A resistance of several Mohms is used for the feedback resistor 31 normally and then the current consumed between the input and output of the oscillation inverter at the oscillation stop is<=several microamperes.
