PURPOSE:To obtain a raw material for cosmetic, giving mild feeling to skin, having massaging effect and capable of mitigating the action of pH, by pulverizing of deashing shell or pearl of a shellfish having nacreous layer, finely pulverizing the produced conchiolin and, if necessary, bleaching the product. CONSTITUTION:Shell and/or pearl of a shellfish having nacreous layer (e.g. Japanese pearl oyster, hard-shelled mussel, etc.) are finely pulverized or deashed with an acid to obtain conchiolin, which is finely pulverized and optionally bleached to form the objective raw material for cosmetic. The cosmetic raw material is composed mainly of protein-based organic fine powder having low hardness and mild action to skin. Accordingly, the material has extremely low irritation and gives massaging effect to skin. The action of pH can be remarkably mitigated by compounding conchiolin to cosmetic cream or face powder and the material is suitable for a carrier to retain a drug, perfume, pigment, etc. The present invention is also worthwhile as an effective utilization method of hitherto disposed shell and pearl scrap. |
