PURPOSE:To decrease reading errors by providing a switch for switching power supply to a card reader independently of a reader and setting a switch actuator and the reader to that mutual position control is possible between them. CONSTITUTION:A switch 7 contains a microswitch and is fixed to a board 16 set in a housing 1. A card 4 is put into a guide groove 2 and an actuator 6 is pressed against the force of a spring 15. Thus the pressing force applied to an operating bar of the switch 7 is released and therefore the switch 7 is turned on to supply power to the reader 3. The positional relation between the reader 3 and the switch 7 can be controlled since they are set separately from each other. Thus the card 4 can be set to the reader 3 with a satisfactory time secured for a period during which the switch 7 is turned on and then the power supply given to the reader 3 is stabilized. Thus it is possible to avoid malfunctions including reading errors.
