PURPOSE:To enable the dyeing of a plant rich in siliceous component such as bamboo, rice straw, rush, etc., which has been impossible to be dyed, by applying a dye to the surface of the plant or immersing the plant in a dye, heating the plant at a specific temperature after drying and cooling and product. CONSTITUTION:A dye such as iron chlorophyll sodium salt is applied to the surface of a plant especially having high siliceous content and glassy surface and containing oily component and waxy component having hindering action to the adhesion of paint and dye, e.g. bamboo, rice straw, rush, etc. As an alternative method, the above plane is immersed in a solution of said dye. The treated plant is dried and heated at >=110 deg.C and preferably <=120 deg.C. The water, oily component and waxy component are migrated and oozed to the surface of the plant by this treatment and mixed with the dye. When the heat- treated plant is cooled, the oozed substances are absorbed into the pulp of the plant in a state mixed with the dye to fix the dye in the plant. A dyed plant having luster and fast color resistant to washing with water can be produced with a simple method and simple apparatus in a short time.
