摘要 PURPOSE:To improve a signal-to-noise ratio by placing two thin film recording and reproducing elements in positions which become on the same track, so that a gap of these elements has an azimuth having a prescribed relative angle to each other. CONSTITUTION:On a slider 2, a Cu film of 3mum is formed in the lower half of coils 4, 5, and thereafter, an Al2O3 film of 0.5mum is formed on the lower half of the coils 4, 5. In order to form a magnetic pole 6 and 9 on this Al2O3 film, a 'Permalloy(R)' film whose film thickness is 10mum is formed, and gaps 7, 8 are etched obliquely (angle 45 deg.), respectively. In this way, gap directions of two recording and reproducing elements are different by 90 deg.. Accordingly, directions of a magnetizing transition, which have been recorded in adjacent tracks have an angle of 90 deg. each other, therefore, at the time of reproducing a data signal of each track, the data of the adjacent tracks are not reproduced. Therefore, a guard band between the adjacent tracks can be set to '0', and the signal-to-noise ratio can be improved.
