PURPOSE:To improve the copy processing speed of garbage collection by providing plural registers which points addresses of an area in a new space and a circuit which decides the kind of data to be copied. CONSTITUTION:A garbage collector 5 sends significant data 2 in an old space 1 to a tag decision circuit 3 when copying the data 2 into the new space 4. This decision circuit 3 decides the tag part (indicating a data type) of the data 2 and sends out a signal corresponding to the data type to AND gates 9, 10, and 11. Those AND gates 9, 10, and 11 passes the contents of one of registers 12, 13, and 14 indicating the address of the corresponding data type in the new space 4 to the garbage collector 5 as an address. The garbage collector 5 copies the data 2 to a specific type, e.g. data type A6 base on the address value of this specific register.
