A steam generator comprises a container having an inlet (7) for water and an outlet for steam, a heating element (9) for heating the water to the boil, and a control unit for supplying water to the container via the inlet according as steam is discharged through the outlet. The container further comprises a communicating vessel (1) having two legs, one of which accommodates the heating element (9) and the other a level detector comprised by the control unit. The water inlet (7) opens into the other leg. The legs are formed of two essentially concentric cylinders freely communicating with one another via their upper openings underneath a cover for the container. |
