PURPOSE:To suppress vibrations of high and low frequencies by furnishing a plurality of openings at a skirt, covering each opening with a panel made of vibro-suppressive steel plate, and by setting the width and length of the top and bottom peripheries of each opening to a specific relationship. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of upper openings 16a-16d are provided at the tip of side wall of a cylinder block body 10, while a plurality of lower openings 24a-24d at the wall of a skirt 20. The upper openings 16a-16d are covered with upper panel 26 made or soft plastic, while the lower openings 24a-24d with lower panel 30 made of vibro-suppressive steel plate. Effective widths T1-T3 of the portions situated between top peripheries of each lower opening 24a-24d at the skirt 20 shall be longer than the effective widths T1'-T3' of the portions situated between bottom peripheries of the lower each opening, respectively. This allows accomplishment of lightweight, provision of rigidity, and suppression of vibrations of high and low frequencies.
