PURPOSE:To record data at a track density of 96 TPI (track/inch) and at a track density of 192 TPI, by providing a stepping motor, and a head moving means consisting of its control driving circuit. CONSTITUTION:At the time of write, a write power gate 28 conducts in response to a line gate signal. As a result, read/write windings 25, 26 and an erasion winding 27 of a tunnel erasion type head 3 are connected to a DC power source terminal 29, but a current does not flow to the winding 27, and in response to a write data of a line 13, a current flow alternately to only the windings 25, 26. On the other hand, to a stepping motor control driving circuit 6, a step direction signal and a step signal are applied by lines 16, 17 from a host side device 10. A stepping motor 5 reacts thereto, the head 3 is positioned at a desired track through a carriage, and write of a data to the desired track is executed.
