PURPOSE:To decrease the number of inputs and errors of an editing tool for input/correction of information to a computer, by giving analysis and check on an inputted parameter in terms of meaning in addition to sentence structure. CONSTITUTION:Input data 11 received from input devices such as a keyboard, a mouse, etc. are stored in the form of character strings or position information. Then token decomposition is applied to the character strings based on delimiters through the token decomposition processing. A symbol table 16 is produced in a symbol able production process 15 based on said token decomposition and a token category rule 13 together with reference to the data 14 on a text and a pattern under editing. In a collation process 18 the sentence structure and a meaning rule 17 which are coincident with an array of categories written on the table 16 are detected with reference to said array of categories. Then the editing process 19 described in the rule 17 is carried out if the coincidence is secured from the process 18.
