PURPOSE:To execute recording with high density by omitting a guard band, by using a reproducing output of an adjacent magnetic gap, for a servo-control of a magnetic head position, in case one of the gaps executes an access to a prescribed track. CONSTITUTION:Head gaps 4, 5 of a magnetic head 3 are placed on a medium sliding surface of the upper face of the head 3 in a state that they have been separated by (a) from a diameter A of a magnetic recording medium 6, respectively, with regard to a running direction R of the medium 6. Azimuth angles of the gaps 4, 5 are set to -theta, and theta, respectively, and length of the respective gaps is set so that each track is recorded in a state of neighboring on each other closely without a guard band. In this way, at the time of reproduction, a track servo is realized with high accuracy, and a track position control can be executed exactly. Also, since the guard band is not required, the recording density to the medium 6 is improved. |
