PURPOSE:To take an exact diagnosis in conformity with the condition by enabling a user to input and store a diagnostic program. CONSTITUTION:A numerical controller has a CPU 1 of normal constitution for controlling a machine tool 4, a machine control processor 3, a driving means 6, a sequence controller 7, memories 5 and 8, and a main memory 2 as well as a keyboard where a diagnostic programs is generated by inputting a diagnostic program, a read/write memory 11 for storing the generated diagnostic program, and a CRT display 12 for displaying the generated diagnostic program. When a maker-made diagnostic can not make a sufficient check, the user generates a diagnostic program conforming with the condition and executes it. The execution is performed when a specific flag of a sequence program reaches a specific value.
