PURPOSE:To perform efficient machining of a middling type bevel and a double edged type bevel, by a method wherein a pair of cutting mechanisms are disposed to a flat plate member vertically supported and conveyed, and a cutting blade is selectively worked on a bevel part. CONSTITUTION:A flat plate member A, the bevel of which is intended to be machined, is moved by means of a conveying mechanism 14 with an edge (b), intended to be machined, down. A cutter 44 of a cutting device 36 of the mechanism 16 is regulated to a given bevel machining position by means of handles 40, 42, 46, and 56, and a bevel is machined by means of the cutter 44. In this case, the one or both of the cutting mechanisms 16 are selectively rotated, and machining of a middling type or a double-edge type bevel is effected.
