Device for recognising and identifying stars and constellations, operating as movable star charts. It is characterised in that it comprises: - a first casing 4 for supporting and holding a circular image 1 of the complete chart of the sky, comprising a device 19 for illuminating this image, the upper part of the casing having a circular opening 5 of diameter greater than that of the image 1 and the perimeter of the opening 6 bearing hour or date indications 7; - a second casing 8 fitting over the first 4 so that the two casings 4, 8 can rotate with respect to each other, comprising a chimney 14 containing a lens 16 for viewing the image 1, and an oval cover 15, the cardinal points consequently being carried around the oval light 15 and date or hour indications 13, depending respectively on those carried on the first casing, being carried on the circular perimeter 12 of the second casing 8 facing those 7 carried on the first casing 4. <IMAGE>
