PURPOSE:To obtain a wire-shaped body of an iron or steelor iron alloy of which the substrate is not oxidized even if said body is aged by natural aging or at high temp. and which has good solderability with said wire-shaped body subjected to solder or tin plating by heating and melting the plating layer in succession to plating. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a wire-shaped body 11 consisting of an iron, steel or iron alloy is subjected to electric solder plating or tin plating to 0.5- 10mu thickness and thereafter the plating layer is subjected to a heating and melting treatment to form a treated layer 12. The flaw, etc. generated on the surface are removed and the gloss of the surface is improved by such treatment; moreover the porous plating layer can be made poreless. Since the substrate wire-shaped body 11 is shut off from the outdoor air by such treatment, the body 11 is not oxidized even if the wire body is aged by natural resting or at a high temp. and therefore there is no possibility at all of the decrease in solderability and defective appearance. An intermediate layer may be provided between the body 11 and the layer 12. |
