PURPOSE:To provide an electrically driven press which is small in size and is easy to use by providing a mechanism to convert the rotating power by a motor to linear motion to the press and commanding various functions to a ram by a central processing unit and the mechanisms associated thereto. CONSTITUTION:The motor 4 is driven by the ascending signal for setting the origin from the central processing unit 2 when a switch A on an operation panel 1 is turned on. The ram 5 is then raised by the linear motion of a screw mechanism. The central processing unit 2 stops the motor 4 when the projection 5a of the ram 5 presses a limit switch 6a to detect the ascending limit point of the ram 5. The driving is thereafter inverted; therefore, the ram 5 starts descending. The ram descends by as much as the set pulse-component stored in the central processing unit 2, when the motor 4 is stooped. The operating point is set on the side lower by the specified size than the point at which the ascending limit point of the ram operates the limit switch. A pressurized speed adjustment is thereby executed and the stable pressing operation under the slight pressure is permitted.
