PURPOSE:The titled composite material of a controlling fiber volume ratio and having sufficient strength, by casting a plastic to a fibrous material consisting of a specific filament inorganic fiber and short fiber, whisker or powder of a heat-resistant substance, compressing and solidifying. CONSTITUTION:(B) 0.5-500% (volume ratio) based on a component A of short fiber, whisker or powder of a heat-resistant substance (silicon carbide, etc.) is attached to (A) filament inorganic fiber or a fabric thereof consisting of (i) an amorphous substance substantially comprising Si, M(M is Ti or Zr), carbon and oxygen or (ii) an aggregate substantially comprising a solid solution of beta-SiC, MC, beta-SiC and MC and/or crystalline ultrafine particles MC1-x(x is in 0<x<1) having <=500Angstrom particle diameter and amorphous SiO2 and MO2 or (iii) a blend system of the amorphous substance of the components (i) and (ii), a plastic is cast to the filament inorganic fiber of the fabric thereof, compressed and solidified to produce a composite having 10-70vol% component A uniformly dispersed into the plastic.
