PURPOSE:A rubber composition suitable as coated rubber for steel belt layer of steel radial tire, etc., having improved thermal shock resistance, obtained by blending rubber with both a cobalt salt of organic acid and a cobalt salt of a specific olefinic monocarboxylic acid. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. raw material rubber is blended with 0.025-0.5pts.wt., preferably 0.06-0.25pt.wt. calculated as metallic cobalt of an organic acid cobalt salt (e.g. cobalt palmitate, etc.) mixture containing 5-30wt% 3-5C olefine monocarboxylic acid cobalt salt (e.g. cobalt methacrylate, etc.).
