PURPOSE:To obtain a maleimide resin varnish having improved curability and economic efficiency, by melting an aromatic diamine while heating, adding a bismaleimide thereto in a suspended state and adding a cyclic ether and curing catalyst after a specific end point of reaction. CONSTITUTION:(A) An aromatic diamine, e.g. m-phenylenediamine, etc., is melted while heating and (B) a bismaleimide, e.g. N,N'-m-phenylenebismaleimide, etc., in an amount of 1.5-3mol based on 1mol component (A) is slowly added thereto while stirring and keeping the suspended state. After completing the addition, the reaction solution is made transparent and reaction is carried out until the reaction product resin is not become turbid even when cooled. (C) A cyclic ether, e.g. tetrahydrofuran, etc., and (D) a curing catalyst, e.g. trimethylamine, etc., in an amount of 0.001-5pts.wt. based on 100pts.wt. maleimide resin are added to the reaction product resin to afford the aimed varnish.
