PURPOSE:To uniformly expose a photosensitive body and prevent toner from sticking to the no-picture forming area of the body so that clear colored pictures can be formed, by making rays of light from a light source composed of light emitting elements arranged in the width direction of the photosensitive body to the photosensitive body through a diffusing plate. CONSTITUTION:Electrostatic latent images of each color formed on a photosensitive body with three uniform exposure devices 5B, 5G, and 5R are developed by means of three developing devices. The rays of light of an exposing light source composed of light emitting elements 51a arranged in the width direction of the photosensitive body 1 are reflected by a quadratic- curve reflecting mirror 52. Peaks of the light quantities of the reflected rays of light are uniformized by a diffusing plate 53 and only rays of light having a uniform light-quantity distribution in the width direction of the photosensitive body are made incident to the photosensitive body. When a reduced copy is made, light emission of one group 51B of the light source is stopped and only the picture forming area is exposed so as to prevent toner from adhering to the no-picture forming area. Therefore, occurrence of light and dark parts can be eliminated and oblique incidence of light to the surface of the photosensitive body can be prevented. Accordingly, uneven coloring is eased and a clear colored picture having no color shifted part can be formed with a compact picture forming device.
